Re: Sylver DECADE

Postby bandag » Sun Jul 25, 2010 2:22 pm

I wasn't talking about Turn the Tide 2010, I'm talking about the new CD "DECADE" a 2 CD set with 28 songs including the new version of Turn the tide. Did anyone buy it? I sure did! it has several new songs, It's my Life, etc.

Yeah definitely! I had reservations about their last release, wondering how could they possibly put together an album to compare to any of their previous one. "Sacrifice" did way more than that! It's my favourite CD now and I can never ever get tired of it... Another one would be so awesome in the spring. I just hope I can use my tickets this time!

I just went to a full live concert of Sylver @ Sint-Niklaas (Belgium). It was during Cock's Festival, for the 75th anniversary of the company "Cock's Fresh Vleeswaren"

They performed with the same live-band as in the Lotto Arena, but now for a set of only one hour.
Sylvie looked great and her voice was nice, but with too much echo on it.

They played in random order: Livin' my life / Sacrifice / Forgiven / Rise again /Lay all your love on me / Why Worry / Take me back / Foreign Affair / Pop-medley /Love is an angel / I hate you know / Turn The Tide / It's my life

I'll hope they can perform many of these live-shows in the future.
Is Rock Werchter too big for them?

Hi fellows! I think that you have a lot of informations about Sylver in Belgium from TV,magazines,so i hope you guys will tell me whats going on :) i m a huge fan of Sylver, but i must say that im very disapointed every time i watch some new video on youtube or anything new.The last thing that was simillar to the true Sylver was when i heard "It s my life" but since that :? :( :x  it s not only me,also my friends say that something s really wrong, this is not Sylver any more,it has nothing to do with vocaltrance or eurodance ,her live performances are full of rock instruments, as if Sylver is turning into a poprock band  and i guess this all begun when John Miles joined Sylver. Why did they take him ??? we dont get it here,he suck like hell, what did they need the squeaky guitar for :?: it doesnt match Silvy s voice, all those tones...The decade also didn t look like Sylver,Turn the tide 2010 much worse than original version, and that german song "killed me". where are performances like this?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwnOTQzEd8g people didnt like it any more,or Sylvi with Wout didnt?? is it a matter/point of money that Sylver has changed so much :?: because its played more in radios with this style or something? it just makes me really sad or rather pissed, coz Sylver is my favourite group and they ruined it now :( BTW Ian van dahl was also better than "Anna Grace" Milk inc. and Lasgo were a little better in the past but Sylver got worse the most. But still,im "Forever in love" with Sylver and others Belgian groups  so i d be very thankfull if someone tells me why is this all happening,i d like to know your opinions...

@ revlys

The German song is not a new Sylver-song. It's a song, orgininal by Tokio Hotel. They played it in a Belgian tv-special about German-songs. Many Flemish singers/groups performed a song of their own, but also a German song from the German Top 10 (selected by Belgian voters in an internet-poll). Also Lasgo was in that show, she sang "99 Lüftballons". Every week they broadcast a Top 10 from another country (like France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Ireland, the UK).
I think it's funny to hear Sylvie singing a song that isn't a Sylver-song.

I also like the performances with a live-band. That proves that dance-music is not only trash (as some alternative-fans may think).
But I agree with you that I don't know why they had to join John Miles jr. in the group. It seems he plays constantly the same guitar-riff that reminds me of a part from Milk Inc.'s "Promise".

I prefer the original version of Turn The Tide, but the 2010-version gives me more a summer-feeling.

Gossip news: Sylvie has a new boyfriend, a dancer she learnt to know during the shows in the Lotto Arena!

The only time when John is usefull in the group is when they play acoustic sets for radiostations. Then you have the guitar of John, the piano by Wout and the beautifull vocals of Sylvie.
